Dec 28, 2006 - If you are pursuing embodying the ebook Visceral And Obstetric Osteopathy, 1e By Caroline Stone. (Dec 28 2006) in pdf appearing, in that.
Visceralosteopathy is a method of exploring those tensions of the body body that residewithin the organs and associated tissues, with the aim of improving overallmovement, lessening any barriers to better function and allowing the bodies ownself-healing and self-regulating mechanisms to function more optimally.
VisceralOsteopathy is :
1)Thethree dimensional dynamics of body biomechanics
2)Reflexactivity in the central and peripheral nervous systems
3)Neuro-emotionalimmune links
4)Effectivecirculation and drainage of all the body fluid systems and tissues.
Somatic dysfunction is a state in the tissues that can ultimatelyinfluence visceral and vascular function, and hence homeostasis, immunity andhealth. The state of the nervous system induced by this somatic dysfunction iscalled a facilitated segment. Somaticdysfunction is considered by osteopaths to be partly aetiological topathological change and development of disease in segmentally related organs. These are called Somatovisceral reflexes.Viscerosomatic reflexes are when the spinal soft tissue and articulatorychanges are considered indicators of visceral disease, and are thus objectivesigns of underlying visceral dysfunction.
The unifyingfactor between viscerosomatic and somatovisceral reflexes is that they are boththought to be perverted version of normal spinal reflex phenomena.
Contraindications and Precautions
Using alternative or natural medicine should not mean rejecting the techniques of conventional medicine. In case of any doubt do not hesitate to use resources; refer
out as necessary.
Contraindications – use your common sense.
1. An acute flare up of an inflammatory process
(i.e., rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, fever)
2. Abdominal aneurysm
3. Bleeding ulcer
4. Thrombosis
5. Hemorrhage or fracture
6. Pregnancy (can perform motility & sphincter work)
Precautions – use a lighter touch in these cases because the tissues have greater
fragility.
1. Diabetes
2. Patients taking anticoagulant drugs or cortisone
3. After radiation therapy, chemotherapy
4. Dilation of superficial veins (varicosities)
5. Foreign body – IUD, pacemaker, stints
